City Evangelism in Lucerne

PURE Ministries and THE FOUR have invited to a city evangelism. The vision is to bring together, equip and send evangelists from all over Switzerland. The first such city evangelism took place last Saturday in Lucerne.

Michèle, initiator of this city evangelism, is pleased that more than 60 participants were invited. The location in the heart of Lucerne was well filled when the gospel training started. Michèle preached the vision of Jesus: "The kingdom of God is like a mustard seed that grows into a tree, bears fruit and multiplies." With passion and joy, she motivated those present to follow Jesus and make disciples who make disciples again. This kindled faith that Jesus wants to need each and everyone.

Together with three women from the newly started house church network in Lucerne, they practiced lifelike, with testimonies, on how to reach those around you with the best message. At lunch there was a lively exchange about experiences with Jesus. The spirit of optimism and passion during the worship time together was powerful. Then those present divided into four groups to bring God's love in power and word to the people in different and creative ways.

Openness surprised

Although it was pouring rain, the groups were surprised at how openly the passers-by reacted to the gospel. Many bachelor party and scout groups were traveling between the train station and the lake basin and there were wonderful encounters. In a prime location, in the middle of the «Island», the organizers received approval from the newly inaugurated "Living Bus" to place. This proved to be a real visitor magnet. Sometimes the prayer and outreach bus was full to the last seat and it was almost impossible to move around in it.

Manuel Leiser, head of THE FOUR, reports how they were able to explain the four symbols to an entire scout group and one young person said: "I was wondering if I could have a relationship with Jesus." He and his friends wanted to find an answer to this question. Meanwhile, a volunteer was on the bus with a young man over coffee talking about faith. He said that his mother was very religious. "But God has no grandchildren, everyone has to decide for themselves whether they want to live with Jesus," objected his interlocutor. Then the young man on the bus said: «Yes, I want to invite this Jesus into my life» and immediately began to direct a prayer to him himself. Beaming, he said he had to tell his mother about it at home and ask her for a Bible.

A leader set up a "Hang Challenge".

Next to the Livingbus were groups with street bingo, mirror boxes with the inscription "What does God love most?" and THE FOUR «Drinks for your opinion» on the go. A leader set up a "hang challenge" and challenged passers-by to set a new record by hanging on the horizontal bar for as long as possible. This drew attention and resulted in great encounters and conversations about God who never lets us down.

Worship becomes a visitor magnet

A worship band in the middle of Europaplatz in front of the KKL proved to be particularly strong. Hundreds of Hans Zimmer concert-goers flocked directly to this public worship event after his performance. They listened to the songs of faith, asked for prayers and started talking about God with participants.

On that day, over a dozen people made a decision to live with Jesus. Some healings occurred and many people were reached with the gospel and touched by God. Initiator Michèle, head of PURE Ministries, sums it up: “We are thrilled with everything that happened, give Jesus all the glory and are already looking forward to the next edition of this city evangelism.”
